Self–Defence Is Now A Crime In Canada

An Ontario man has just been charged, not for breaking into someone’s home, but for defending his home after it was broken into.*

It's been determined that the homeowner “assaulted” his intruder, which is a ridiculous charge considering his intruder is the one who first assaulted him. The moment a criminal forcefully breaks into someone’s home with the “possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and break-and-enter” is the moment he assaults the homeowner. That is, the moment the criminal chooses to violate a man’s property is the moment the criminal forfeits his right to not have his own property violated.

Nevertheless, I suppose it unsurprising that the homeowner's been charged. It would have been far more surprising to hear the homeowner hadn’t been charged. We are a country where criminals are commuted and the convicted are somehow set free. And here is why that is the case:

Fundamentally, Canada is a socialist state, and in a socialist state, you can’t defend your home because there is no such thing as “your home.” You can’t defend your property because “your property" doesn’t exist. Everything is everyone’s. Your home is everyone’s home, and your property is everyone’s property.

That is, in a socialist system, there is nothing to steal because everything is already yours. There's no such thing as breaking into someone's home, precisely because his home is your home, his food is your food, and his wages are your wages, even if you didn't work for them.

Thus, to “defend” what’s yours in such a system is analogous to hitting another child in kindergarten because he took “your toy” from the communal sandbox. A man can't really "take" any property because all of it is already his. Neither can you defend that property, because it really isn’t your property to defend. Everyone owns everything, so no one owns anything.

I grant that the irony of this infuriating situation is not lost on us. The bureaucrats that lay the charges of defending oneself with a weapon themselves have guns. The leaders that denounce personal defence are always surrounded by police. The politicians who complain when Canadians defend themselves are the politicians that set the criminals free. The situation is so morally inverted, one might even begin to think we have criminals running the country.
