New Year, New Alberta

Right now, Canadians are asking the question:
“What will Canada’s government do in 2026?”
Will Carney mount another dreadful attack on free speech? Will his coalition escort pastors to prison for preaching the truth? Shall yet another Conservative imposter cross the floor and fortify the Liberal Bastille?
When we consider these possibilities, we have a tendency to tremble. Last year was a mere appetizer of Carney’s capabilities. The thought of an invasive government burrowing deeper into our lives is nauseous. Our stomachs turn when we envision the political delicacies he’s prepared for us in the coming year.
Then again, what has Carney planed for us in 2026? The truth is that while we can speculate, we ultimately don’t know, and neither does anyone else.
Maybe Carney will launch an assault on free speech, maybe he won’t. Perhaps our pastors will preach from their pulpits; perhaps they’ll preach from prison. It’s possible that more Conservatives will cross the floor, but it’s also possible that a few Liberals will defect to the NDP.
Granted, it’s improbable that Carney’s government is going to get better. A short study of Ottawa’s 2025 shows that it was business as usual. Last year was marked by more spending, more secularism, and somehow, more sin in the capitol. Why should 2026 be any different?
At the same time, a short study of Alberta’s 2025 shows that it was anything but business as usual. A craving for change has been brewing in the province for years, and it’s now beginning to boil. An independence referendum is coming, and we have an immense amount of work to do with very little time to do it.
In this, while we don’t know what Carney’s going to do in 2026, we do know what we’re going to do. We’re going to work our hardest for freedom, justice, and truth. We’re going to stand for what’s right. We’re going to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, and mind.
Thus, as 2026 commences, we might be tempted to mope and mutter something along the lines of “new year, same government.”
But before we do so, let us remember that at this very moment, Carney's cabinet is probably saying the same thing about us.
They are most likely grumbling about starting the new year by having to deal with those “stubborn” Albertans who won’t give up, won’t quit, won’t surrender. Thank you so much for reading!
